Kristen applied in February for a Split Hospitality Placement with HTE Internships. Spending 6 months in New Zealand during the Rugby World Cup then 6 months on a tropical island in Australia appealed to Kristen. We asked Kristen some questions about why she applied and what she is most looking forward to in New Zealand and Australia over the coming 12 months. You can check out what she said below.

.

.

Why did you decide to apply for an internship abroad?

After visiting New Zealand and Australia, I realized my time spent there was too short and that I would definitely need to come back to both places. The split internship is the perfect fit for me to do just that.

.

How do you think this will help you in the future?

Experiencing New Zealand while it is hosting the Ruby World Cup would be an incredible experience where I will be exposed to numerous different cultures. This will help me become a well-rounded individual when it comes to international affairs and possibly open up some networking opportunities.

.

What are you most looking forward to in New Zealand?

I am looking forward to being in a different country, meeting new people, and learning more about the game of rugby. Since I am from the U.S., rugby is not a very common sport over here. Being a die hard sports fan, I would love to obtain a better understanding of this game.

.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship abroad?

I hope to learn about other cultures and get a better grasp of the hospitality experience in another country. Working hands on will allow me to gain skills and tools that will forever impact my career.

.

How do you think future employers will view your time abroad?

I think future employers will view my time abroad as an additional outlet to my current experience. This will further my skills and add an element that demonstrates my independence, well-rounded, and adventurous characteristics.

.

One a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you?

10! I am sooo excited!
