Luis applied in June for a New Zealand hospitality internship. HTE Internships will be placing Luis into New Zealand. We asked Luis some questions about why he applied and what he is most looking forward to in NZ. You can check out what he said below.

.

Why did you decide to apply for an internship abroad?

I think nowadays, especially in the hospitality industry it’s priceless to be used to work and interact within a multicultural environment. That’s the reason why I decided to move to France to pursue my studies in Hospitality Management and it’s the same reason that makes me want to go to New Zealand now. Since I started my studies in hospitality, I’ve lived and work as a team with people from all over the world, with different backgrounds than mine and I think I’ve learnt a lot from each one of them. I’ve always been interested in expanding my horizons, and I think New Zealand it’s a perfect place to do so.

.

How do you think this will help you in the future?

Without a doubt, this experience will bring something valuable to my life. Of course it will be good for my CV to gain experience as an intern abroad, because it could be interesting for a future employee having someone who has invested time and resources in improving his abilities. Plus I will experience a new working environment, with new ways of doing the work, from different perspectives. The opportunity to stay for a year in a beautiful country and add new pages to my life’s experiences makes it worthwhile.

.

What are you most looking forward to in New Zealand?

I’m looking forward to experience the beauty of New Zealand and the different aspects of daily life over there. I want to learn about the people, the society, the culture, the ways of thinking and the way they work. I look forward to meeting new people, making new friends and the most important: Learning and gaining experience in my field.

.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship abroad?

I hope to increase my abilities and learn a lot both from the hospitality business and even learn more about myself. I think that when one is in a different environment to which one is used to, everyday is an opportunity to learn new things, even more so than in a situation in which one is completely used to. I hope that in comparison to where I started, in the end, after the year is over, I can leave completely satisfied with having accomplished my goals.

.

How do you think future employers will view your time abroad?

I hope they will notice that I care about my career and I’m willing to take it as far as possible and I’m willing to learn and improve. For sure I look at this opportunity as an investment in my future career.

.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you?

I would say 9. For a long time now, I’ve been interested in knowing New Zealand, because I’ve heard great things about this country. Plus this is another step to becoming a better proffesionist.
