NZ is great and have met some really nice people. I have settled in fine, flat sharing with 4 girls who are the same age and studying also.

.

How was your first week of work, did you have induction?

First week of work was really interesting looking into how things work and how the hotel runs throughout the different departments.

The induction was great fun, had the chance to meet new people, not only within the f&b department but also front office, conference, housekeeping and kitchen staff.

The induction had a lot of fun activities to do, with understanding accor and the range of hotels from formula 1 through to sofitel 5*. we had a one nights stay in the hotel including breakfast and dinner.

.

Describe a Typical Day at work for you?

I started off working mornings, starting at 5am to set up the breakfast buffet and bar. There will then be another girl who stars at 5.30am and then the cashier and another person will start at 6.30am helping clear plates and refilling buffet. Another shift is the evening at 3.30pm to set up the evening buffet and then 5.30pm for the rest of the staff working to get started for guests to arrive at 6.00pm. They then have the choice of buffet  or menu which has some excellent dishes.

Its a great opportunity to make conversation with guests who are not only from New Zealand but all around the world for the big event of the rugby world cup.

.

How are the people at your work, are they friendly, easy to ask questions?

Everyone at the hotel is great fun and i have made some really good friends, who i can hang out outside of work and go on road trips and attend events.

.

What has been the highlight of your trip so far?

The highlight of the trip so far is definately the rugby world cup and the amazing atmosphere, especially with England being the quarter finals!

.

What’s your favourite “Kiwi food” you have tried?

Has to be hockey pockey icecream! and L&P drink.
