We asked Ruby some questions about why she applied and what she is most looking forward to in Australia. You can check out what she said below.

.

Why did you decide to apply for a hospitality placement internship abroad?

I applied for a hospitality internship in Australia because my future aspiration is to work abroad in an English speaking country. I think that is such a great opportunity; especially as I am studying an International course and therefore I think that it is important to complete a placement abroad. I believe it will increase my independence and most importantly it allows me to experience working in the industry in a completely different country.

.

How do you think this will help you in the future?

I think it will help me massively in the future because it is an industry that I have a great passion for. I think that experiencing a year abroad will improve my confidence, allow me to develop my interpersonal skills in a hotel resort which is very new to me.

.

What are you most looking forward to in Australia?

I am looking forward to experiencing a new culture but also meeting new people, engaging with customers and developing new skills within the industry.

.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship abroad?

I hope to achieve a great working relationship with colleagues, good communication with customers and learning how an international hotel resort works in comparison to working in the UK. It is a great chance for me to gain more experience in the sector that I am studying for and I feel that it will give me great job satisfaction.

.

How do you think future employers will view your time abroad?

I think future employers would think very highly of me going abroad because it is a big step, only being 18 years of age, and it also shows that I am adaptable and independent. I think it will show that I am capable with handling most situations and that I am serious about my future career.

.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you?

On a scale of 1 to 10 I am a 9 because I am fairly nervous about moving abroad to the other side of the world for a year, but I am so excited because it will be an experience of a life time! It will also allow me to broaden my work experience and gain new skills.
