.

Why did you decide to apply for an internship abroad?

I applied for an internship abroad as this was an optional part to my university course, but I have known right from before I started university that this is something I would love to do. It is an opportunity not be missed and I think personally for me it will help me to grow as a person as living and working in a different country and culture is not something I’ve ever been used to. I have always had a passion for travel as I have been very fortunate to visit many countries across the world, but never to work in any and this is something that really appeals to me, especially within Australia and New Zealand.

.

How do you think this will help you in the future?

I feel this will help me in the future as having the experience of working abroad in countries such as Australia and New Zealand is a great thing to have on your CV, especially for me as I have worked as a travel agent before and loved selling Australia and New Zealand holidays as I find both countries very fascinating, therefore in the future I would love to become an Australian Specialist possibly within a travel agency or working for an Australia/New Zealand Tour operator.

.

What made you choose six months in Australia and New Zealand?

The reason for me choosing six months in Australia and six months in New Zealand is because I have visited Australia before and loved the place so working there really would be a privilege for me. I have relatives and friends that have visited New Zealand and have told me what a wonderful place it is, and it is one place that I have always wanted to go, so I found that combining both Australia and New Zealand for me is the perfect opportunity. In Australia I am most looking forward to revisiting the country as I found it had such a lovely atmosphere with everyone being so friendly but also seeing a part I have not been to before. With New Zealand I am really looking forward to visiting a country I have heard and read so much about and seeing how vast it is and how different the culture is compared to the UK.

.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship abroad?

From my internship I hope to learn many skills within hospitality as this is something I have not worked in before but I would love to gain as much knowledge as possible from it. I also hope to gain even more maturity in dealing with public and I feel the whole internship will be a great stepping stone to my future career.

.

How do you think future employers will view your time abroad?

I think that future employers will hopefully see that my time abroad will have given me a great amount of knowledge within the countries I have worked in, especially as I would like to go on to be an Australia/New Zealand specialist in a travel agency or tour operator so from actually working six months in each country this should be a plus to the employer. The fact that I will have worked as a travel agent before but also in hospitality after this internship will show that I have a large range of skills which could hopefully impress the employer.

.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you?

On a scale of one to ten I would have to put ten as how excited I am as this is something I have always dreamed of doing in my life and I can’t believe I am actually being given the opportunity to do the internship in the two countries I am so interested in.
