Hello, my name is Phillip Clements, and I’m a Hospitality student from Northern Ireland, and here are some the reasons why I applied for the graduate program with HTE Internships.

When I started back to University in September I found out about the HTE program, I was very excited and couldn’t wait to find out more.

I decided to apply for a hospitality internship in Australia and New Zealand, as it is a chance for me to expand on my international working experience. This opportunity also gives me the chance to learn new industry skills and knowledge, plus the chance to expand and improve the skills that I have already learned.

This opportunity allows me to travel, embrace a new culture, country and society which in turn let’s me tick off another country on my list of countries to travel.

How do you think this will help you in the future?

The graduate internship will help me in my future and give my CV an edge over any competition, when applying for a job in the future within the hospitality, or events management industry. The program will help my future as it will teach me new skills and knowledge.

What made you choose six months in Australia and New Zealand?

One of the biggest advantages, that I can enjoy from this internship program is the chance to meet new people, make new friends, plus fun and long lasting memories of an enjoyable year.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship abroad?

What I would like to and hope to achieve whilst on this internship program, is the chance to learn more knowledge and skills on the event management industry, and also about Australian wine, as I feel that a vast wine knowledge is crucial in the hospitality industry. I also would love the chance and opportunity, to work in managerial position like a supervisory role.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you?

I’m so excited about this opportunity that I can’t put it into words and there is no scale with enough numbers to describe how excited I am.
