Rachel applied for a Australia hospitality internship programme to start in 2012. We asked Rachel some questions about why she applied and what she is most looking forward to in Australia. You can check out what she said below.

.

Why did you decide to apply for a hospitality placement internship abroad?

As part of my University degree, my second year is spent gathering up experience in the industry. Having previously worked in hospitality, as a waitress and bar tender, I know this is the area of work I would like to go into long term. The reason I chose to look at placements abroad is mainly so I have the opportunity to travel and experience different cultures.

.

How do you think this will help you in the future?

This opportunity will help a great deal with my degree, in Events Management, as I will have some experience under my belt to relate to, and prepare me for working in the industry. It would also look great on my CV; especially that I have worked abroad. I think future employers would view my time in Australia positively as it shows I am quite independent, outgoing and motivated.

.

What are you most looking forward to in Australia?

In Australia, I am most looking forward to gaining some invaluable experience in the hospitality sector, travelling after my placement and going sightseeing, the weather, and maybe learning a new skill, like surfing.

.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship abroad?

I hope to learn about all the different levels of management and pick up some new skills in the work place. I also wish to improve my business and selling skills.

.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you?

10!!
