Food is a huge focus in Australia and the Whitsundays is not just known for its amazing scenery and location, but its award winning food also.  There are over 15 different eating options from 5 star fine dining to casual dining options.   As a chef, you will be exposed to some of the best culinary practices in Australia.

Position outline

Work both individually and as a member of a cohesive team to provide consistently high standards of food quality and production, whilst adhering to the resort’s product standards and specifications.  To ensure the highest levels of guest satisfaction at all times and to encourage return visits.

Ideal applicants will be trade qualified with post apprenticeship experience in either a hotel, ala carte restaurant or multi outlet kitchen environment.  You will need to be an individual with a keen eye for detail, have an excellent understanding of quality culinary operations.

The most important qualities are that you have a passion for food and working with ingredients , you will also need to work well in a team environment.

How much will you be paid?

Working as a chef you will be paid a salary which is a bit different to many other positions which are paid by the hour.  As a chef in the Whitsundays, you will be paid a salary that is inclusive of a 9% superannuation (pension) contribution.

Annual Salary

Commis  Chef                            $46,500 (Australian Dollars)

Demi Chef                                 $47,500 (Australian Dollars)
