The majority of placements we have in the Whitsundays – a tropical island resort are in Food and Beverage.  Within F & B we have two categories; premium and non-premium F & B.  The difference between the roles are explained further down the page, but both positions are in the same amazing tropical location, so whether you’re working in a 5 star restaurant or the casual dining of the yacht club, you will be in a place you could only have dreamed of.

The Food & Beverage positions sit under the Australian Hospitality Programme, for information on what is included in this programme, costs and benefits, please see the Australia Hospitality Internships, Australia Graduate Hospitality Internships or the Australia Hospitality Jobs page.

Premium F & B Attendants

A premium F & B placement means you will be working in one of the 5 star restaurants in the Whitsundays in Queensland, Australia.  With guests paying up to 2,000 Australian dollars per night to stay on the island, the expectations by your employer for personal grooming and F & B experience are high.

To be eligible for a Premium F & B position you must have:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in a 4 or 5 star restaurant
  • Basic wine knowledge in tasting and food pairing
  • Good knowledge of the order of service
  • Ability to carry 3 plates at service
  • Confident carrying plates, trays of glasses and talking to customers
  • Have an excellent attitude

Non-premium F & B Attendants

In F & B we place 95% of our applicants into non-premium positions.  The main reason for this is that 95% of the eating options or restaurants in the Whitsundays are not 5 star restaurants.  Having said this, there are some great restaurants and eating options for you to work in, where the atmosphere is more casual.  Many of the eating options are indoor/ outdoor due to the amazing climate in the Whitsundays.

To be eligible for an F & B attendant position you must have:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in a restaurant or applicable establishment
  • Have excellent personal grooming
  • Have an excellent attitude
