In 2012, HTE Internships are launching a new Australia Hospitality programme with 20 places starting between June and September. This programme is for hospitality students who are required to complete an internship or work placement as part of their studies.

You will be working in one of Australia’s top 5 star resorts in the Whitsundays. The placement will be for 12 months with one employer on a work visa sponsored by HTE Internships.

Resort Overview

  • 5 star Australian Iconic resort
  • 5 Hotels in the resort
  • 14 different restaurants/ eating options on the island
  • 1,400 employees
  • Subsidised accommodation on the resort
  • Situated in the tropical Whitsundays on the Great Barrier Reef
  • Average temperature is 27 degrees



Applicants must be:

  • A current student studying hospitality
  • Be a course requirement to complete a 48-52 week internship


Money Matters

Paid: 17 Australian dollars per hour (UK£10, US$17)
Hours: 38 per week, over time paid extra
Accommodation: 90-100 Australian dollars per week (before tax), includes accommodation and all utilities
Tax rate: 15%


Programme Cost – Sponsored Programme

£1,800 for 12 month programme – Sponsored Work Visa

Programme cost broken down into 3 payments:

Deposit: £300 (with application)

Second Payment: £600 (Before visa is processed)

Final Payment: £900 (before depart to Australia)

The Australian Hospitality Programme is a full-service programme where you will have help and assistance at every step of the process, from enquiry through to support in Australia.

    • Instructions on applying for your Australian tax file number
  • Assistance gaining your compulsory Australian RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate online
  • If the internship is part of your studies, we will liaise with your placement office. It is your responsibility to ensure the programme meets the requirements of your university.

**Where the above Australian dollar (A$) figures have been given and estimated UK, Euro or US dollar amounts given, the exchange rates used are UK£1 to A$1.53, €1 to A$.1.31 and US$1 to A$1. These are the exchange rate as at 5th of January 2011, you will need to check the current exchange rate at the time you are preparing a personal budget of these figures. All figures above are estimates, you will need to gain a quote based on your circumstances to have an accurate cost.

In addition to the additional costs shown above, you will also need to prove you have enough funds to support yourself in Australia. This is part of the visa application. This can either be shown in your account, or in your parents account with a letter of support from them stating they would support you to the amount needed by Australian Immigration.
