Many of the hotels we work with run graduate programmes that we place into.  The starting position you would be offered is in one department and then the hotel moves you into different departments as they see fit.

In terms of career progression after your placement, 90% of the hotels in New Zealand that we place graduates into (4/5 star hotels) are part of international chains and we have had students and graduates who have secured a job in UK, USA etc before leaving NZ off the back of the good work they have done there.

Programme details

The New Zealand Graduate Hospitality programme is a full-service programme designed to give you help and support from the time you apply to the time you hop on the plane to return home after completing your hospitality placement.

You will be supported by the HTE Internships UK office from enquiry through to applying and departing for New Zealand. At that stage you will have full support from our New Zealand team who are based in Wellington. The New Zealand team is there to ensure your work and time in New Zealand is successful. The NZ team also provides 24 hour support should you need it.

What’s included before you depart?

  • Paid placement, confirmed before you depart to New Zealand
  • Phone interview tips and training if needed
  • CV/ Resume and cover letter writing assistance
  • Assistance looking at flights and insurance to New Zealand
  • Assistance opening a New Zealand bank account before you depart
  • New Zealand arrival instructions emailed to you before you depart including:
    • New Zealand airport transfer details
    • First two nights accommodation in New Zealand details
    • Details of your first day at work
    • Employer contact details
    • Pre-departure checklist
    • Contact details for your New Zealand support team
  • Assistance applying for your New Zealand work visa
  • If the internship is part of your studies, we will liaise with your placement office. It is your responsibility to ensure the programme meets the requirements of your university.

Australia & New Zealand Split 12 Month Placement

One of our most popular options is splitting your 12 month hospitality placement between two of the top travel destinations in the world.

Start your Graduate Hospitality Job in Australia or New Zealand and combine some travel in between placements. You could be working on an Australian Tropical Island or in the Sydney CBD or in a 4 or 5 star New Zealand Hotel.

Instead of two full placement fees for the different programmes, we have combined the two programmes into an affordable package that will see you working in two of the most sought-after destinations in the world!
